ForexAgg is a free, open exchange rate aggregator that pulls data directly from 9 central banks and financial institutions — no middlemen, no markup, no subscriptions.

Rates are collected automatically every day and stored in a database, giving you access to historical data, trend analysis, source comparison, and cross-rate calculations.

Built with FastAPI, PostgreSQL, and vanilla JavaScript. Hosted on Fly.io, Supabase, and Netlify.

Methodology

Rate Storage

All rates are stored as "units of quote currency per 1 base currency". Cross rates (e.g. EUR/JPY) are derived via USD using the formula: EUR/JPY = USD/JPY ÷ USD/EUR.

Rate Selection

When multiple sources are available for a pair, the converter uses the most recent rate. The Compare Sources tab lets you see and compare all available sources for any pair.

Update Schedule

Fetchers run automatically on weekdays. Rates are typically available within 1–2 hours of each central bank's publication time. Weekend rates are not published by central banks.
